All Time Low have parted ways with Interscope and have recorded their new album as an unsigned band. Read an excerpt from an interview with AbsolutePunk below:A good chunk of this record deals with our signing, and eventual split with Interscope. It was the usual story that we promised ourselves we’d never let happen: Band signs with label, label throws everything into the making of band’s new album, team working the record gets fired or moved to another office, record gets delayed, record loses steam, band leaves label. I don’t fault the folks at Interscope for any of this. The people we worked with were amazing, and really believed in us. Even the people who eventually came in to try and pick up the pieces left in the wake of massive restructuring, were genuinely trying to help. Unfortunately we got lost in the mess of big business and higher-ups making deals. Lesson learned. No hard feelings. It’s not for us. We asked to be released from our contract, and they understood why. The other, and more important theme of this record, is self discovery and confidence. It’s about being sure that you’re not sure, and being OK with that— realizing that life is an adventure, and to face it boldly and unabashedly. I think this theme even plays into the former quite a bit; Don’t let anyone mess with you aspirations.

I Need Feminism…
Because when I told my friends that I wanted to get sterilized the first reaction I got was, “But that’s what we were made for.” or “What if you get married and your husband wants his own children?” or “Why wouldn’t you want to have babies?”
Because apparently we don’t live in an overpopulated world, where women’s worth is still based on their ability to reproduce. Apparently there aren’t enough unwanted and abused children in foster care or waiting to be adopted. Because apparently if a child isn’t blood related then that lowers his or her worth. Because obviously a man should have a say in whether or not I want to get pregnant or not. Oh and also, because wanting to get sterilized means I don’t have a heart and that I’m not a woman and that I hate children. Its interesting, because I look at adopting and fostering as my responsibility to this imperfect society we live in. I feel responsible, so I want to help. Whereas they see having children as a woman’s responsibility to society.

Personally I probably won’t go as far as getting sterilized but this is basically my view too. I don’t want it to be expected of me to have children, I don’t want kids, I don’t even want to get married. But if I get to a point where I do want kids then I could easily adopt a child that is in need of a good home, instead of contributing to a world which I think has too many people in it as it is. If I do end up with a man who wants biological children when I don’t, then tough shit, it’s my body.
okay I literally forgot to eat today so I’m gonna try and limit my harvest moon playing tomorrow :P
